The slugs on the West coast (Pacific NW kind, of which there are 
gajillions, and the attractive and appropriately named Banana Slug of the 
Santa Cruz mountains) are both coated with a a very nasty tasting slime 
that acts as a deterrant to predators. If a dog eats one, he foams and 
salivates for a long time trying to get the taste out of his mouth.

In 4H, we were told that you COULD eat banana slugs (They're HUGE), but 
you have to peel them first. This may have been a camp counselour with a 
very odd sense of humor pulling the legs of some very impressionalble kids...

So, if the slugs here taste nasty, it would explain why there's no 
recipes, I think. can't speak for any other kind of slug...
