I don't know that it's that simple.  It sounds good, this forgiveness
concept, but after all, you did fall short of perfection.  If we forgive
you, then we have to go forgiving all kinds of other imperfect folks when
=they= make errors.  Surely you can see that it's more efficient to use you
as some kind of terrible example so that no one else will ever err again.
Nope, no forgiveness, instead, scourgings with flaming salamander whips in
the piazza in front of the cathedral, at noon. [okay, you can all turn your
"joke" lights off now.]
