SC - OT - CO2 cautions

Folks,

It looks like there have been some people upset by Mr. David Young's mistake.
He will be unsubscribing from the list mainly because of some rather nasty mail
sent his way. He didn't specify what mail he got and he didn't stress this was
the reason but I don't care.

What I do care about is that this Society is hopefully based on times when honor
and courtesy were considered important. As the creator and administrator of this
list I feel the people who read this should be treated with those same virtues.
I don't know if this person has been hit with nastygrams or if he took the "pie
in the face" email the wrong way but some people have hidden behind the keyboard
and harmed someone. Mr. Young made a simple mistake and I don't think it caused
anybody undue hardship or stress.

I sent him a note informing him of the situation and giving suggestions on how
to avoid the problem in the future. I tried to do so with courtesy and the knowledge
that he would probably be very embarassed once he realized the mistake. If you
sent him a message did you do the same?

We have gone over these things before and I am pleased that we keep things civil
and on an honorable basis but let me stress one thing....

I WILL NOT TOLERATE FLAMES, RUDENESS, BACKBITING, OR ABUSE OF ANY MEMBERS OF 
THIS LIST!

I know this was private mail he recieved but we are losing a lurker who may have
been too shy to post something because of this. It is a shame when I hear of 
someone getting email warning them of the backlash if they say something stupid.

You folks have dubbed me "Poppa", fine, I kinda like it. But that means I feel
like you are family. Consequently, if someone needs their hand slapped it is up
to me to do it.

If there are people who abuse the courtesy, honor, and family that I personally
hold so dear then I don't want to play with them and since this is my playground
they won't play here. If the problems still don't go away then the list will.

Remember, it's easy to take things the wrong way so always try to be extra 
courteous when responding.

Okay, rant over, but I'm still pretty irate.
