After going back through this whole thread I have to agree with His Grace on
this topic. I don't see where any insults have been thrown in any direction,
just comments and suggestions as to less modern ways to do things. He is also
very correct in noting that many people say "it isn't practical in the Current
Middle Ages" rather than "it isn't practical for me". I know very well from
personal experience that it is possible to do anything as close to authentic
as possible, it just isn't always practical for me. Many things I do are not
period, for a variety of reasons, financial, personal preference, or easy of
care, but I know they are and I never represent them as authentic.

Someday I hope to have a more authentic encampment. However, I will probably
will never stop using cotton embroidery floss, certain cotton fabrics, modern
leather dye, and some modern leather working tools because they are what I can
easily aquire and fit my budget.

As far as I can tell, His Grace's argument is that one should never say that
something is impossible in our Current Middle Ages, because anything is
possible. We all need to understand and accept that for personal reasons,
none of us are perfectly authentic all the time for various reasons, and we
need to explain it using those reasons, not that it just isn't possible.
