The fact is that the poppy seeds used for cooking are the seed of the "Blue
seeded poppy" otherwise known as a variety of the opium poppy. The last time I
ordered poppy seed for the garden several years ago I had to sign a
certificate stating that they were to be used for culinery purposes only. By
law you are allowed to grow these poppies BUT the authorities have a "right"
to pull them up if they persieve abuse. Also if you consume poppy seed rolls
or cakes regularly you will test positive for heroin/opium so if your company
is a party to this insidious practices it is best to avoid consuming
quantities of these products.
