i, too, while generally agreeing with his grace cariadoc, have to find the
example of the star spangled banner a little off.  the music that key
based the song on is quite old - best known as a drinking song called "To
Anacreon on High" in post civil-war England, but quite possibly based on
an even earlier tune.
