SC - possibly OOP - wood stove

Melisant,

Get a GOOD chimney sweep--they aren't all good: you want one that is
certified--to check out your stove before you burn down your house or
asphyxiate your family. Fire, smoke and gases are not things to
experiment with. And a 'soot fall' is not something you want to have
happen to your kitchen. If the stove was not used frequently by the
previous owners, there's a reason for that. If it was, and you don't
have a recent receipt from a certified sweep, you want it done. If there
is no certified sweep listed in your yellow pages, ask your fire
department. They'll know who's more of a danger than a help, and some of
their guys may moonlight and do that work.
