The Closet of Sir Kenelm Digby Opened has a recipe for Excellent Small Cakes 
in it. Basically currant cookies. Duchess Melisande used to serve them at a 
lot of her feasts (I used to end up making then for her a lot...) and they 
are simple, not too sweet, and very tasty.
