Not really. Each person developed their persona as they participate in the 
SCA. It really is an individual process and can be likened to growing up or 
maturing, if you will. The nice thing is that the vast majority of SCA people 
accept you at face value until they are given a reason not to. :-)

A name is a very personal thing and is not given by others but is a choice of 
the individual. If the decision is made later to register it with the College 
of Arms then documentation must be provided. A persona cannot take the 
persona of an actual historical figure. 

As far as profession and location...I would think that you would most be 
suited to be a 'scholar'. ;-) Location is a personal thing also and a story 
made to fit whatever location you choose can be  created. :-)
