Freshly ground coffee is preferable.  I use an electric grinder and it does
well getting a very fine grind if I grind the beans for about a minute.  If
you are having problems, you may need to dump out the grounds, sift them a
little and return them to the grinder.  You might also consider a mortar and
pestle to get a super-fine grind.
