The oblaten is a rice flour wafer similar to a communion wafer.  AFIK, it is
used only on commercial lebkuchen to keep the individual cakes from sticking
together.  If I were trying to find some, I check with a bakery supply.  I
have yet to find a modern recipe.
Homemade lebkuchen (modern) tends to be a flat spice cake cut into bars.
Period lebkuchen is much like period gingerbread, made from honey and a
breadcrumb or flour binder.
