SC - Chocolate cake, crisco question, OT-OOP

Greetings, Listfolk!

As you may or not remember, I somehow got involved with doing a non-SCA demo
for a needlework guild.

They have finally (one month before the date of the event) given us a budget
($7.50 per person for 30 people) and a description of the kitchen so now we
have something to work with.

The latest problem -- they want something spectacular for dessert.  They
understand (they say) that this will not include anything chocolate.

So -- anyone out there know of any spectacular Elizabethan desserts?
