Ana, send me as many of your pre-Columbian recipes as you are willing and
able to. You needn't translate them, I can do that- just include your
sources.

I'm not sure about other areas of Mexico and South America, but my
information is that chocolatl as used by the Aztecs was the only chile/cacao
combination, served as a hot drink only for ceremonial purposes, and only to
men. Mole was concocted by a group of nuns in Los Angeles in the 1700's,
thus leaving it out of our period, but guacamole is not only pre-Columbian,
but an Aztec word to boot.

If you have any serious information to the contrary, I'd love to see it,
with citations, etc.
