SC - Children's Cooking Classes

A couple of ladies and I would like to put together a Children's event next 
year to include cooking classes.  I'm starting to research "kid" friendly 
period recipes.  I do realize that the complexity of the recipes depends on 
the ages of the children. Perhaps 8-12 years of age?  Any suggestions or 
advice would be welcome.
