Vanilla is from the New World.

So is allspice.

It is possible that a modern recipe might turn out to also be a period
recipe, but the odds aren't terribly high. And the only way to know that a
modern recipe is also a period recipe is to go through period sources to
find the same recipe there. But if you are going to do that, it is a lot
less trouble to skip the first step and go through the period sources until
you find a recipe you like, then make that.
