I don't know much about Sekanjabin syrup, but rose syrup I do know.  The 
stuff you can get in ME markets is heavily adulterated with citric acid and 
tastes more citrus than rose.  It's also artificially colored an amazing (and 
unnatural) bright red.

I have a recipe for rose syrup in Stefan's Florilegium -- it's essentially a 
very strong infusion of rose petals, which is then boiled with sugar until it 
thickens.  Is that how sekanjabin syrup is made?
