So-called "white chocolate" has no cocoa solids, merely cocoa butter.
Cheaper brands not even much of that. It is the solids that give the flavor
and make it "chocolate". The manufacturer calls the white cocoa butter and
sugar and VANILLA confection white chocolate becuase who would buy it if
they named it what it is?

Not brown, not chocolate. Merely candy. Vanilla flavored candy at best.
Probably rich and fatty and sweet, but not chocolate.

I'm one of those chocolate purists. That abomination called white chocolate
is a waste of time. But then, I'm barely willing to agree that the brown
confectionary used to make chocolate easter bunnies is chocolate. I only
eat chocolate of that quality when really desperate. HIgh quality "white
chocolate" is a better candy, but won't fix a chocolate craving.
