SC - cheese questions

I like to use ricotta in meat pies, I add swiss chard, garlic, leeks and 
marjoram. What is the periodicity of ricotta? Was it used in meat dishes in 
period? While I use ingredients that taste good, I can't really say that this 
recipe (the one I use with ricotta) is period other than it has a medieval 
"feel" to it. One big plus for this recipe though, is that my kids will eat 
it!!!!
