SC - French toast?

French toast, one of my favorites.

Try making it with leftover banana nut bread or other fruit bread.  I also
like Pineapple Upside Down French toast.

Lightly butter a 9 X 13" cake pan.
Sprinkle a thin layer of brown sugar into the bottom of the pan.
Drain a can of crushed pineapple and layer it over the brown sugar.
Slice day-old French bread into 1-inch thick slices and lay flat over the
pineapple.  Fill in the spaces with pieces of bread.
In a bowl, beat together two eggs and 1 cup of milk.  Add a pinch of salt
and spices to taste.  (My fav is cinnamon.)
Pour egg mixture evenly over bread.  (You can cover and refrigerate at this
point.)
Bake in a 350 degree oven until set and slightly browned.
To serve: cut into squares and flip over onto plates.  (Good luck with this
part.  I always end up making a mess!)
