Why, yes, cuz grits is grits while them's grits, honeychil'.

OOP story: When my Pa was a strapping young fella in the Army in the
late 40's (poor feller just missed the Big One: the Sequel), he was
right pleased to see the mess hall was serving "Soul Food" one day. He'd
never had none, but heard such good things about it. Down the chow line
he goes, looking for the "Soul Food", pilin' his tray high with
black-eyed peas and cornbread, hominy, hamhocks, grits, fried chicken,
mashed 'taters with gravy, etc. When he got to the end of the line, he
disappointedly asked one of the stewards where all the "Soul Food" they
announced was. The steward, somewhat bewildered, pointed out the heap o'
"Soul Food' on my Pa's tray. Pa looked at his tray, then back at the
steward and replied:

"This? This ain't 'Soul Food.' Hell, I was raised on this."

Pa was born and raised in northwest Oklahoma. He has no accent and has
never eaten grits since I was born. Why I like 'em and occasionally slip
into an accent is beyond me.

(nobody but my Momma calls me Jimmy!)
