I dunno about that. But what this has to do with whether the obviously
progressive Da Vinci or the as-yet-unproved-non-progressive Platina both
used barley meal for their polenta, or whether Da Vinci used maize meal,
I hope someone can demonstrate, because that, in theory, was what the
discussion concerned. I only mentioned Platina as a substantive for the
idea that Da Vinci may well have used barley meal also, in spite of the
fact that maize had been discovered previously by Europeans. I'm not
quite sure how either a supposed intellectual gulf or one of
accomplishment (I have less trouble with that concept than with the
former) fits into a discussion on grain use.
