I was born and raised in Bradford County, PA just south of Broome County, NY. 
 As a bit of added cultural history, the people in my neck of the woods make 
a great deal out of spiedies in the fall right after deer season......yes, we 
have adapted Spiedies to venison and many a football game is centered on 
Venison spiedies. They are even given as gifts. :-) And yes Salamida's 
marinade is frequently the  marinade of choice although there is stiff 
competition centered around the 'best' home made' spiedie sauce. :-)
