SC - sumac

Hi again -

went to the market in Jerusalem the other day.  It's rather bigger and more 
varied than the one here in Beer Sheva.  Anyway, I found some sumac.  So my 
question now is:

Apart from za'atar, what can I make with it?  Is there anything period I can 
do with it (not having had it before, I've never taken notice of recipes 
containing it)?  It's a fairly fearsome colour - can I dye things with it 
(such as hard-boiled eggs for Easter)?
