All cooks who do this are not bad cooks nor do they produce bad food at
feasts. I do not pretest and my feasts have always been fine. Certainly an
inexperienced cook who is does not have any 'natural' instinct for cooking
should pretest but there is no reason for instinctive cooks or trained cooks
to have to do so with any regularity, IMO.
