I would think it would be of use...however, I would also imagine that it will be
a gargantuan task, especially as there are points of disagreement on a number of
items.  It would be good if some ingredients that are generally considered to be
not in period, but do show up very late (sweet potatoes come to mind, as does
chocolate) could be included with a note to that effect!
