Not to start a war of words... but I know of someone personally who was a 
recovering alcoholic on....oh, darn I forget the name of the drug.... that 
made them violently ill if they had any alcohol - even mouth wash could set 
them off.  He just stopped eating at feasts because _he_ believed that he 
could not "trust" the cooks not to put something in the food and not make it 
public.   Personally, I like it when it is announced that alcohol was used in 
cooking a particular dish, for I too, have religious constraints on my diet.

 By the way, I AM a recovering alcoholic.  I have found that in my case, at 
 least, this is a fallacy.  For anyone who is counting, I celebrated eleven 
 years clean on my last NA birthday.
