As I understand it... I imagine she means raw peanuts. Truly "green" peanuts 
would be undried even, fresh from the ground. I could be wrong here but I 
don't imagine that they're be nearly so many boiled peanuts available if they 
actually used those. 

I could be in error though, I DID try to boil my own once using raw peanuts, 
apparently my heat source wasn't high enough or my timing was off, so I drive 
into the hills occasionally and get my fix. I don't eat them that often 
anymore anyway. All that salt can't be good for my already high B.P.

Gods forbid you should find them in Greenville proper... too many new 
arrivals and too many Yuppie natives ashamed of where they came from. But 
then, without the new arrivals I wouldn't have two Indian, one Middle 
Eastern, several Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, and Hispanic groceries and 
restaurants to choose from. For that I'll drive into the hills and find 
people on the sides of the roads boiling pots of peanuts.
