They are mentioned in some herbals. There is a page or two of info on
Juniper berries in this file in the PLANT, HERBS AND SPICES section of
the Florilegium.

Unfortunately, no recipes, at least in this file. As a message in this
file does mention that they are good in roasts you might check the 
various meat files in the FOOD section.
