This story has been corrupted over the years. About 30
years ago, a cousin of mine received thru the mail a
cake recipe that was purported to have come from the
Waldorf-Astoria hotel under similar circumstances of a
lady asking for the cake recipe and being charged
$50.00 for it and, in retaliation, she was sending it
to all of her friends, and her friends friends, etc.
