SC - what to do with a pumpkin's insides?

Pumpkin Soup
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon flour
3 cups chicken broth
3 cups pumpkin 
heavy cream
Salt to taste 
Saute the onions with the butter in a heavy, large saucepan lover low heat 
until soft. Add the flour and cook for a few more minutes. Add the chicken 
broth, a little at a time, thoroughly mixed. Gradually add the pumpkin and 
cook gently for 20 minutes. Stir in cream just before serving. Add seasoning 
to taste.
