SC - Quince tarts

I have never cooked a quince, or a tart, but to me, the more I
am reading your related recipes, these sound more and more like
the modern apple dumpling recipes I have seen.

Is it possible that the coffin you are making is quince sized
only, and does not necessarily fit into a piepan?
