I think this is getting more into politics and less with the purpose of
this list, however...

Ras, just where would you draw the line at investigating and if need be
regulating food safety?

For example, an insignificant number of airline flights result in
crashes. Would you have us stop all investigations and safety
requirements?

Personally, I see no reason why an investigation like this should be
stopped. If indeed there is a problem, then there are various solutions
short of banning cheese imports. I think the simplest would be to simply
require irradiation of such food products. This process has much less
effect on the food itself than standard or the ultra-pasturization
mentioned recently. I would love to be able to buy unhomogenized,
unpasteurized milk that had been irradiated instead. An added advantage
would be the ability to keep it unrefrigeated until opened.

However in regards to the top comment, I don't see how irradiating
the lobbyists would have much effect. I assume the American cheese
producers would just buy some more. :-)
