Was it beef steak tomato or shiso, also called "beefsteak perillo"? I do
know that the shiso leaves are used both in making umeboshi plums,
umeboshi paste and umeboshi vinegar and by themselves.

Ok - something else I've been wondering......I was watching Iron Chef
the other night and they were using beefsteak tomato leaves in a dish
- - actually I've seen it a couple of different times.
