Hey all!

My life has been crazy lately, so I haven't had a chance to be involved in
the list much these days, but I have run into a couple of questions I hope
someone here can answer for me.

First question: what exactly makes kosher dill pickles kosher?  I can't tell
from any of the recipes I have, and I would like to know since I plan on
giving some of the pickles I've made as gifts.

The second question requires a bit of background.  This last Saturday I went
to our local Farmers Market and bought a type of potato I have never seen
before. (It was at booth where you could fill a bag for $5 and there wasn't
anyone working at the booth who had any idea either.) The skins are sort of
cream colored, and when cooked the potato has a buttery flavor and a pale
yellow color.  What kind of potao is it?
