The "I may vomit," line from Kaufman and Hart's "The Man Who Came To
Dinner" is is response to a pot of calves'-foot jelly, IIRC.

I'd long been concerned about the fact that New York City seems to have
no single, particular traditional, potluck-type food, possibly because
so many of its people are immigrants either from other countries or from
other American regions. You'd be as likely to have a New Yorker bring
arroz con gandules or baba ganoujh as anything else.

On the other hand, that also means that I've gone through the past
almost-forty years without once seeing a jello mold of any description,
except on television.

Adamantius, who brought a modern cima di vitello with a vaguely period
allepeverade sauce to a party this weekend, in an attempt to establish a
Real New York Tradition. It _could_ catch on!
