There should be a setting in the options somewhere, kind
>of like the auto-spell-correct, that can be un-clicked to stop this.  Or
>else, try putting space in the sequence like- 1/ 2.

fractions as words are always legible,
one-half, three-quarters, etc.

decimals aren't a good corrective, depending on the font size and style and 
the readers eyes, that little . can disappear.  5 and .5 are majorly 
different!
