Correct. When trying to 'redact' some of my grandmother's recipes several
years ago I was so frustrated that I finally swallowed my pride and askked
her what size she was talking about. She replied that  if you didn't have the
'right' equipment to cook with, you could substitute a 1/2 cup (e.g. from an
8 oz. metered measuring cup) or 'so'.
