Dry Ice (Re: [Sca-cooks] Kitchens)

Warning, be sure that dry ice is well and truly packaged.  Many years ago my
mother decided that dry ice would be perfect for our small cooler chest.
She packed it with out goodies to include a bag of Bing Cherries.  When we
got things out they were cold, but carbonated.  The carbon-dioxide from the
"ice" had permeated everything.  Carbonated hot dogs were, well,
Interesting.  The cherries were very good though.

I can get it in atlanta at many Publix and Ingles grocery stores.  Just ask
at the cusomter service desk.  It is probably the size of the market that
has made it so available to us here . . . . that and how quick the ice melts
in the insane August heat.  try asking managers at local food stores if they
can and wil order it.  They may be delighted to do something unusual for a
regular customer.
