This is incorrect. They grow sweet everywhere. Some people think they don't
grow as sweet in other places but that is a matter of personal taste. BTW,
Most seed houses list a northern variety of Vidalias now  which is the one I
grew that was not as large but still VERY sweet. The market vidalia growers
readily admit that they  will be sweet anywhere they are grown just not as
sweet. :-)
