Hi Clarissa! Welcome back to the SCA-Cooks list. I hope you will
stay for awhile.

Since you have computer access, you might want to take a look through
this file in the FOOD section of the Florilegium:
soup-msg (101K) 1/31/01 Medieval soups. Cooking soups at
events.
                                       recipes.

Would an onion soup fit the description of a light soup?
onion-soups-msg (21K) 10/18/00 Period onion soups.

What is a "cheese relish"? Is this something spread on bread? Or
something like compost, which might be scooped up with bread or
a spoon?

Are you going to provide a beverage? Perhaps a jalab or two? If you think
Sekanjabin has been overdone, there are a number of other similar drinks.
These can be quite refreshing on a hot evening.
jalabs-msg (51K) 1/23/01 Drinks with a sugar or honey-syrup
base such
                                       as Sekanjabin (Persian Mint Drink).
