Lenten and other fasting-days meals? You know, no meats,
heavy on fishes and vegetables? <grin>

And lots of exercise: all that time spent outside hunting
big deer to feed your family with, and looking for serfs
and vassals who've escaped, and the time indoors trying
to keep warm in cold drafty castles, and doing a lot of
walking around being Machiavellian can do wonders for
a long life.

As long as one didn't die from diseases, malnutrition, and/or
wars, that is.

<grin>

(Seriously: I'd imagine fast-day meals would be relatively good
for you; and I think they did get a lot more exercise back then - no
cars or bicycles, which meant they walked a hell of a lot, and/or
rode horses for them what could afford such. This is merely a
variety of the Bloom County Diet - "Less food, more exercise".)
