Unless its in gumbo, fried is the only way, in my opinion, to eat okra.

My Great grandmother's two house clearing dishes were her chitlin's and her
okra.   I don't think anyone in the family had the guts to tell her that she
was supposed to bread/coat it, then fry it.  I'll not go into what terms
were used to describe her okra.... however, I will tell you that at one
point, one of my uncles used the residue to skate across the hard wood
floor.
