Green cardamom is the seed pod of Elettaria cardamomum. White cardamom is
bleached green pods, but I haven't found a description of the process.
Black or brown cardamom is the seed pod of Amomum subulatum Roxb.

"Cardamom" has also been used to describe other members of the genus Amomum
used as spices.
