Agreed. it was the corniness that turned me off, but the food wasn't half bad. 
I'm more into modern Thai food than Modern Chinese Food (3 years living in
Thailand and a love of chilli helps...)

There are a couple of Chinese Manuscripts with culinary recipes (YSCY & Cloud
Forest Hall Rules) but are there any for Khmer or Ayuttayan cuisine around the
SCA time period?
