I can't answer the viability of seeds from the sources you mention,
but folks have mentioned a number of sources for various period
plants and seeds.

You might find some wonderful sources in this file in the PLANTS, 
HERBS AND SPICES section of the Florilegium. There were some
quotes that these places could be hard on your pocketbook if you
are a seed enthusiast.
