Here we seem to have a lack of consistent terminology. I think of African
marigolds as stinky. French marigolds look similar but are less stinky. Pot
marigold (aka calendula) looks nothing like the other 2 and is not stinky at
all. Now I find that French marigolds are 'calendula' from Jadwiga and
something called a French marigold but without a description is grown in
England to keep the 'beasties' at bay. I am confused...:-(
Here is what I have come up with. Would it be possible to tag these with
common names so we can at least have a consensus as to what species is being
discussed?
pot marigold (noun) : a calendula (Calendula officinalis)
marsh marigold (noun) : a swamp herb (Caltha palustris)
mari*gold (noun) : any of a genus (Tagetes)
fig marigold (noun) : any of several herbs (genus Mesembryanthemum)
bur marigold (noun): any of a genus (Bidens)
