Maire asked:
>I'm one of the folks in charge of organizing/hosting the Queen's Tea at
>Uprising this upcoming June (Artemisia's biggest camping event, for
>those of you who didn't know), and I'll be sending out requests to the
>different Artemisian groups requesting folks to bring goodies to
>contribute. I'd like them to be period, if at all possible, and they
>also need to be transportable, as many folks are coming from far away.
>Stuff like sausages, cheese tarts, etc. may or may not work, as the tea
>is Saturday, and the event starts Thursday. So...I'm asking y'all to
>think deep about what's worked for various queen's
>teas/solars/whatevers, and give me some ideas.....the only ones I can
>come up with so far are sugared nuts/confits, shortbread, and possibly
>some stuff from the Miscellany.....
Here is the menu from the royalty Luncheon I served at our Candlemas
event a
little over a year ago. While this was for an indoor event and it was more
of a luncheon than maybe what is expected at a tea, this wasn't a sit-down
meal either as the entourage came and filled plates for the Royalty and took
it to them at the tournament field.
This menu was not from any specific region or time period, but I was
trying to come up with foods that would be served to Royalty in early
winter.
Candlemas Royalty Luncheon - February 5, 2000
This menu was purposely picked to illustrate a menu that might have been
served as regular lunch (not a feast day) during early winter to a
Monarch on a Royal Progress through his lands.
