Well, I had my first Thanksgiving in the weekend. I went to Wales to visit
some American friends, Rhieinwen & Umberto, with three other friends from
London including Mistress Keilyn, who very kindly cooked us a delicious
traditional Thanksgiving meal. There was a cheese board of Welsh and English
cheeses and pickles to start, followed by a main of wonderfully moist turkey
with requisite stuffing, gravy and freshly made cranberry sauce, baked
courgette crumble, mashed cheesy potatoes, something else I can't remember,
savory toasted cheese with broccoli (maybe not traditional but yummy
nonetheless), salad, and Caesar salad and for dessert (and breakfast) pecan
pie, apple pie and a cheesecake-like pie. It was excellent and definitely an
experience I want to repeat.
We actually ate outside (as Meesha is allergic to cats and our hosts had 3)
but it was a mild night and quite enjoyable to be sitting out under the
stars eating.
The nationality composition was quite amusing though, and I wasn't the only
'first timer' - there were three Americans, two British, one South African,
one Maltese and one New Zealand/Brit.
Ciao
Lucrezia
