With regard to The history and culture of Japanese food /
I just went back and rechecked OCLC. The record ends:
  Document Type:  Book
  Entry: 20010828
  Update: 20011022
  Accession No: OCLC: 45307500
Without going into MARC record and OCLC protocols,
I take this to mean that it was entered on August 28th
and last up-dated on October 22. It is a current record.
FirstSearch which does Books In Print Online also has it
listed as a current item. It apparently is out. This isn't
a pre-order sort of thing.
