[Sca-cooks] Thanksgiving feasts

As is our custom, we went to my aunt and uncle's house. My
uncle is an excellent cook, but my aunt won't let him get too
experimental on Thanksgiving. We had a fairly traditional meal of
pumpkin soup, turkey, stuffing, gravy, homemade cranberry relish,
roasted potatoes, and sweet potatoes. Their friend Stella brought
her customary contribution: a Puerto Rican rice casserole with
sausage and pigeon peas. (It just wouldn't be Thanksgiving without
Stella's rice!) My niche in the family is baking, and I brought
pumpkin rolls, apple strudel pie, and a pumpkin maple pie. The
latter was an experiment, and was edible, but not as special as I'd
hoped.

My aunt has the gift of decorating, and the table was resplendent
with the best china and silver, mums planted in small pumpkins,
floating candles, and scatterings of autumn leaves.
